MeshCore is a free, open-source (publicly available) messaging system that allows you to send off grid text messages and share GPS locations without cell service, Wi-Fi, or the internet. It is for communication during emergencies and for remote areas when phones fail.
It uses small LoRa radio devices (allowing long distance and low power). It uses a "mesh" network to send messages over long distances by automatically forwarding messages through nearby nodes as necessary. Meshcore users have their own personal nodes and communities have devices in elevated positions to extend the range of the network. The personal nodes can be built by the user and programmed through phone apps and operated through solar power.
